
Zambia-Chinese Association Donate K1m Worth of Food and Non-food Items

The Zambia Chinese Association has donated one million Kwacha worth of food and non-food items for people in disaster affected areas in Zambia.
The Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit -DMMU -has also received 200,000 Kwacha cash from the Zambia Chinese Association.
And Vice President MUTALE NALUMANGO thanked the Chinese people saying the donation will go a long way in supplementing government’s effort to help the flood victims.
Speaking when she received the donation at DMMU in Lusaka, Mrs. NALUMANGO said the people that were in camps after floods in Lusaka are no longer there as they have been given money to rent houses.
She has sent messages of condolences to the bereaved families of the four people that died due to the floods.
And, Zambia Chinese Association President, ZHANG JIAN said the Food supplies include mealie meal, rice and cooking oil while the non-food items include disinfectants, blankets, mattresses and protective gear to help in aiding post disaster sanitation and temporary resettlement efforts.
Meanwhile, DMMU National Coordinator, NORMAN CHIPAKUPAKU said various stakeholders have responded to the appeal for assistance for the people affected by the floods.
Acting Chinese Ambassador to Zambia WANG SHENG, said China will continue to help the people affected by floods.
