By Effie Mphande
President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says Zambia and Egypt will collaborate on food production using irrigation.
President HICHILEMA says he and his Egyptian counterpart ABDEL FATTAH EL-SISI have agreed to jointly venture into agriculture on a large scale.
He says the two countries have together a programme, which will work on a joint farm beyond the existing farms, which Egypt operates in Zambia.
The President was speaking in an interview with ZNBC news in Cairo, Egypt before he left for Zambia.
President HICHILEMA said the two countries will venture into large scale mechanized irrigation.
He said Zambia and Egypt will also work together in the area of skills transfer.
And in a separate interview Egypt’s Minister of Agriculture ALAA EL DEEN FAROUK said Egypt is ready to put up a plan on how his country can support Zambia to boost its food production.
As part of winding his state visit, President HICHILEMA toured the Egyptian Pyramids, which were built more than 1,200 years ago and still regarded as among the remaining of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
