Zambia elected as a member of UNCITRAL

Zambia has been elected as a member of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law -UNCITRAL- for a Six year term, beginning 2025 to 2031.
The election took place at the UN Headquarters in New York where Zambia secured 176 votes in a competitive field.
Zambia’s election marks an achievement for the country in the global arena, enhancing its role in shaping international trade law.
In a closely contested race, Zambia outperformed other candidates with the Republic of Congo receiving 171 votes and South Africa garnering 168.
Zambia’s appointment to UNCITRAL is a major step forward for the country’s diplomatic and economic standing.
