Zambia Receives $2 Million Emergency Grant from Japan

The Japanese Government has given Zambia two million United States dollars Emergency grant.
The grant which has been donated through the World Food Programme -WFP- is in response to the drought that has hit the country.
Japanese Ambassador to Zambia, TAKEUCHI KAZUYUKI, says his country will remain supportive to Zambia to ensure the country builds resilience and protect livelihoods.
Speaking during the handover ceremony of the grant to the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit -DMMU- in Lusaka, Mr. KAZUYUKI expressed optimism that the grant will have a lasting impact.
And DMMU National Coordinator, GABRIEL POLLEN expressed gratitude for the continued bilateral support between Zambia and Japan.
Meanwhile, World Food Programme -WFP- Country Director, BYENKYA KABASUUGA, reiterated WFP’s dedication to working closely with DMMU to ensure aid reaches the intended beneficiaries.
