Zambia recognised for governance improvement

Zambia has been ranked among 13 African countries with improved overall governance.
According to the latest Ibrahim Index of African Governance Report, Zambia is among countries with a score better in 2023 compared to 2014.
The report says the rate of improvement has been increasing since 2019.
The Ibrahim Index of African Governance assesses governance performance in each African country over the latest available ten-year period.
The indicators for the 2024 Ibrahim Index of African Governance are organised under 16 sub-categories and four categories.
They include Security and Rule of Law, Participation, Rights and Inclusion; Foundations for Economic Opportunity and Human Development that make up the overall Governance score.
The Index report measures changes over a 10 year period and quantifies the difference in absolute score between the last and the first data years of the decade under review.
Overall Zambia has been ranked 17th out of 54 countries in Africa in the 2024 Ibrahim Index of African Governance Report.
