Zambia records 9,000 cancer deaths yearly

The Ministry of Health says about NINE Thousand people die annually from different types of cancers in Zambia.
Acting Health Minister FRANK TAYALI says cervical cancer claims 3,600 lives, while Kaposis Sarcoma, accounts for 2,400 cancer related deaths.
Mr. TAYALI was speaking during the media launch of the Awareness Campaign week, for the 2025 World Cancer Day which falls on February, 4, 2025.
He said 1,600 people die from Prostate cancer while breast cancer claims 1,100 lives and 500 succumb to esophageal cancer.
Mr. TAYALI said childhood cancers, despite being curable, are associated with very high mortality in Zambia.
This year’s World Cancer Day is being celebrated under the Theme, United by Unique.
