The country has recorded ONE new case of Mpox, bringing the total number to four.
Health Minister ELIJAH MUCHIMA says this is from a 1 year 7 month old baby of Kitwe who likely contracted the disease through close contact with an earlier case from the same household.
Speaking during a press briefing in Lusaka today, Dr. MUCHIMA said the baby is in a stable condition, under home isolation and receiving treatment.
MEANWHILE, Dr. MUCHIMA said the last two cholera patients in Nakonde have been discharged and as of today no cases have been recorded in the country.
He said cumulatively, the total number of cholera cases stands at 15 with no active cases.
Meanwhile, Dr. MUCHIMA said over 197,000 doses of the oral cholera vaccines have been approved by the international coordinating group on vaccines.
The Minister said Vaccination will begin on January 7th, this year targeting individuals starting from one year old.
