Zambia records increased fish production
(NAIS) Zambia has recorded an increase in fish production from 178,000 to over 197,000 metric tonnes representing a 10.5 percent growth in the sector in 2024.
Fisheries and Livestock Minister PETER KAPALA attributes the increase to government’s dedication in promoting sustainable fisheries management and strengthened collaboration.
Mr. KAPALA says government has continued to foster regional cooperation for trans-boundary fisheries and ecosystem management, particularly on Lake Tanganyika, Lake Kariba, and the Zambezi river system.
He was speaking when the African Union Delegation paid a courtesy call on him in Lusaka.
And African Union Commissioner for Agriculture, Rural Development, Blue Economy and Sustainable Environment -ARBE- MOSES VILAKATI emphasised the need for Africa to collaborate in strengthening the continent’s food system.
