
Zambia to commemorate KENNETH KAUNDA Day
(ZANIS) Secretary to the Cabinet, PATRICK KANGWA has announced that the country will commemorate Kenneth Kaunda Day on April 28, 2025.
In a circular, Mr KANGWA says the country will celebrate the KK day in honour of the First President’s vision for a Zambia that promotes sports for a healthy and prosperous nation.
The Secretary to the Cabinet says the 2025 Kenneth Kaunda Day commemoration will run under the theme “Kenneth Kaunda, the Patron of Sports and Arts.”
ZANIS reports that Mr. KANGWA says the national commemoration will be marked by a Golf Tournament to be held at State House and will be officiated, by President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA.
He said the other approved sports activities for this year’s Commemoration are Football, Basketball, Volleyball and Netball.
Other sports are Athletics, Aerobics and Health Walks.
Mr. KANGWA further advised Government departments to engage various stakeholders at all levels in the commemoration of the important occasion and incorporate the private sector for possible sponsorship.
He has since encouraged all citizens to participate in sports activities that embody the values and principles of the founding father.
April 28 was declared a public holiday in honour of the First President of the Republic of Zambia, Dr Kenneth David Kaunda, through Statutory Instrument Number 72 of 2021.
