Zambia,China sign deal to establish a $37m Cholera vaccine plant

Zambia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with China to establish the country’s first cholera vaccine manufacturing plant.
This is at a cost of 37 million US dollars under Phase One, with about 3 million doses expected to be produced.
The MoU is a joint venture between the Industrial Development Corporation -IDC- and Jijia International Medical Technology Corporation.
President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA witnessed the signing ceremony at the State House.
President HICHILEMA has expressed his appreciation to the Government of China for the continued support in the health sector.
The President said Cholera remains a menace and the coming of the plant in Zambia will save a lot of lives.
President HICHILEMA said the opening of the plant is also a step towards addressing productivity which usually arises from illnesses occasioned by cholera.
