Zambia’s GDP to Grow Rapidly in 2025
By Paul Shalala
Zambia has been ranked among top 10 African countries whose Gross Domestic Product -GDP- is expected to grow faster in 2025.
The ranking is from the latest World Economic Output report by the International Monetary Fund -IMF.
The report, which has just been released, has projected a 6.6 percentage GDP growth for Zambia which will be the sixth highest on the continent.
The IMF report says the growth will be fueled by an ease with the adverse effects of the weather and the easing of supply constraints.
And the Economics Association of Zambia -EAZ says the IMF projection is realistic as the government has worked on long term measures to revive the economy.
EAZ National Secretary NICHOLAS MAINZA says the revival of several mining houses will contribute heavily to GDP growth.
Dr. MAINZA says the long term reforms government is taking will bear fruit in the near future.
Meanwhile, Center for Trade Policy and Development -CTPD- Executive Director ISAAC MWAIPOPO told ZNBC News that the projection is attainable if the country receives favourable rainfall and stabilises the supply of energy.
Mr. MWAIPOPO said a stable supply of electricity and good rainfall can help reach the 6.6 percent GDP growth that the IMF is projecting.
