ZAMMSA Confirms Adequate Supply of ARVs and Essential Medicines
By Musenge Mulimba
The Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) says the country has enough antiretroviral drugs (ARVs) and other essential medicines.
ZAMMSA Head of Corporate Communication, Bradley Chingobe, says there is no shortage of ARVs for both adults and children, contrary to reports in some sections of the media.
Mr. Chingobe said this after touring the ZAMMSA Copperbelt Province regional hub and selected health facilities in Luanshya to check on the availability of ARVs and essential medicines.
Acting Copperbelt Regional Hub Manager, Halmington Ngambi, said the distribution of ARVs and essential drugs is on course in all ten districts, starting with district hospitals.
Meanwhile, Luanshya District Health Director, Lennon Mutale, said the district has enough stock to last three to six months.
He further said there has been no interruption of drug supply in the district, and all those on ARVs are getting their usual three-month supply.
