ZAMMSA, Health Ministry Officials summoned by DEC

The Drug Enforcement Commission-DEC- has escalated investigations into alleged corrupt activities at the Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency -ZAMMSA- and the Ministry of Health.
DEC Public Relations Officer, ALLAN TAMBA has confirmed, saying some senior officials at ZAMMSA and the Ministry of Health have since been summoned to help with the investigations.
Meanwhile, the commission has arrested a Ministry of Health employee in Lusaka for alleged money laundering, involving over FOUR million kwacha and over US$11,700.
Mr. TAMBA has identified the suspect as FRANCIS NSENJE, aged 40, with other persons unknown, and committed the offence in his capacity as Project Manager for a named project, under the Ministry of Health.
The suspect allegedly disguised various payments as having been made to the Zambia Revenue Authority –ZRA- from the project account, yet they were made to his personal bank account.
Mr. TAMBA explained that Mr. NSENJE used the same money to acquire two farms in Chongwe and Chibombo districts respectively, as well as two motor vehicles and further made improvements to his house in Lilayi.
The commission has seized the mentioned properties.
