ZAMMSA launches investigation into Data Server Crash
By Simon Syabbamba
The Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency -ZAMMSA- has instituted investigations into the crashing of a data server last month which disrupted essential services.
ZAMMSA Senior Manager, Corporate Communications, BRADLEY CHINGOBE says the crash revealed signs of tampering with accounting data and server activity logs spanning from 2020 to 2024.
In a statement issued to ZNBC news, Mr. CHINGOBE said the incident has been escalated to Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority –ZICTA- for a thorough examination.
He said ZAMMSA’s ICT team however managed to restore the payroll system in time to ensure that October salaries were processed without delay.
Mr. CHINGOBE added that ZAMMSA will only fully understand the cause and consequences of the crash once the ongoing investigations are completed.
He further said that ZAMMSA remains committed to the security of its systems and intends to work closely with ZICTA and other relevant authorities to prevent future incidents.
