
ZCAS Wins ZRA Tax Quiz Competition

Government has commended the Zambia Revenue Authority -ZRA for fostering a culture of tax compliance through its tireless efforts in tax education.
Ministry of Education Permanent Secretary Technical Services KELVIN MAMBWE says the initiative to partner with learning institutions is both timely and strategic as it enhances tax knowledge and influences taxpayer compliance behaviour.
Mr. MAMBWE says such initiatives lead to increased tax collections, which provide essential revenue to fund public services that benefit everyone.
He said this in a speech read on his behalf by Acting Director in charge of Universities BRIAN MAKUFELE during the ZRA 2024 Season 2 Grand finale Know Your Tax Quiz.
And ZRA Commissioner General DINGANI BANDA said the authority is determined to enhance its tax collection and ensure that citizens become compliant through the tax education initiative.
Mr. BANDA said this is why ZRA has introduced a graduate programme where exceptional students will be identified, trained and given opportunities to gain experience and grow their career.
Meanwhile Copperbelt University and ZCAS University finished as finalists out of the 10 learning institutions in the quiz, with ZCAS University emerging as the winner, scoring 69 points, while CBU secured second place with 63 points.
The champion, ZCAS University, walked away with a prize of K150,000, while CBU received a prize of K75,000.
And KOMANI NYIRENDA, a CBU student, who spoke on behalf of other students, thanked ZRA for coming up with such an initiative which impacted them with knowledge on tax.
