The Zambia Congress of Trade Unions -ZCTU – has thanked government for withdrawing and suspending consultations on the proposed amendments of the Employment Code Act number 3 of 2019.
ZCTU Secretary General JOY BEENE says this shows Government’s resolve of being responsive and constructive in dealing with concerns raised by the Labour movement.
Mr BEENE says the decision to withdraw and suspend the process shows Labour Minister BRENDA TAMBATAMBA’s willingness to engage in dialogue with stakeholders.
Mr BEENE was speaking during a press briefing in Lusaka today.
He has also reaffirmed ZCTU’s commitment to supporting progressive reforms, stressing that development can only be achieved if rights of stakeholders are respected.
Meanwhile, Mr BEENE has praised President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA for his decisive action to dissolve the entire Anti Corruption Commission Board.
He says the dissolution of the board shows the President’s commitment to the fight against corruption.
