The Zambia Information Communication Technology Authority-ZICTA has expressed concern with posting and sharing of unverified information by some people on the internet.
ZICTA Acting Director General, COLLINS MBULO says it is unfortunate that people have continued to disregard the law by sharing unverified and fake information.
Mr. MBULO says the Media has the power to shape society and change perceptions on cyber security matters, by not supporting the sharing of fake news.
He added that the Media has an obligation to report responsibly to avoid promoting fake news and misinformation based on things reported on social media.
Mr. MBULO further called on the Media to help promote safe and responsible use of the internet, for a better and secure society.
He was speaking when he officially opened a two day media workshop in Lusaka, on cyber security awareness.
