Zimbabwe beats Zambia in Antimicrobial Resistance student debate

Zimbabwe has beaten Zambia in the African region Antimicrobial Resistance student debate competition.
The Varozvi of Zimbabwe scored 111.2 out of 120 points while the Youthful Antimicrobial Resistance Ambassadors of Zambia got 108.7
Both teams put forward insightful and thought provoking arguments.
The debate competition took place in Yaounde, Cameroon where commemorations to mark the continental World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week are underway.
The students debated the motion ” Integrating strategies to combat Antimicrobial Resistance into other public health initiatives such as primary healthcare, universal health coverage and environmental protection is essential to achieving key success milestones
and ensuring a resilient health system”.
The Zambian team, which comprised students from the University of Zambia Ridgeway Campus, Texila American University and Eden University came second position and debated online while its opponents were at the venue.
Student One Health Club of Senegal got third position while team Hemle of Cameroon landed fourth position.
