ZPPA releases 2025 First Quarter Price Index

The Zambia Public Procurement Authority -ZPPA- has published the Market Price Index for the First Quarter of 2025.
ZPPA Principal Officer Public Relations INUTU MUSHAMBATWA says procuring entities should be advised that prices contained in the Market Price Index are retail costs and VAT inclusive unless otherwise stated.
Ms. MUSHAMBATWA says the Authority has since advised that transport costs from the point of sale to the point of consumption are not included in the Market Price Index.
She told ZNBC News that prices of goods, works and services that have been set by respective Government institutions shall be considered as the costs to be used for benchmarking purposes and as part of the Market Price Index.
Ms. MUSHAMBATWA said this includes among others, fuel prices set by the Energy Regulation Board, insurance rates set by the Pensions and Insurance Authority and prices set by utility companies such as ZESCO and Water and Sanitation Companies.
She said the issued Market Price Index shall be in effect until the Authority issues the next quarterly Market Price Index.
