HH tells chiefs to spearhead mining development
President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has called on traditional leaders in North Western Province to remain united and help spearhead mining development in the province.
Speaking during a meeting with traditional leaders in Lumwana ahead of the ground breaking ceremony of Super pit in North Western Province, President HICHILEMA said the launch of the project will create more opportunities for employment.
The President has assured traditional leaders that the displaced residents of Kamisengo where Lumawana wants to expand its activities will be compensated before mining activities start in their area.
He said he has engaged the investors on the challenges the KAMISENGO residents are facing so that the issue can be resolved quickly.
And Chairperson for the Council of Chief in North Western Province Chief MUMENA said traditional leaders in the province will support the President and Government’s agenda of expanding the mining sector.
He praised the President for his consistency of ensuring that local people benefit from the development of the Lumwana Mines.
