By Alice Lubasi
Cabinet Office working with the Freedom Fighters Organization is in the process of collecting and creating a national database of freedom Fighters across the country.
Secretary to the Cabinet PATRICK KANGWA says government is keen in ensuring that all Freedom Fighters, who took part in the fight for Independence, are located and appreciated.
Mr. KANGWA says the data collection exercise is decentralized to the districts and implemented through the office of the District Commissioner.
He was speaking during the official opening of the data entry and analysis retreat for Freedom Fighters in Chilanga District.
And Ministry of Community Development Director Social Welfare NELSON NYANGU said the data analysis will be based on specific criteria to ensure that only people who actively participated in the fight for independence are entered into the national register.
Meanwhile, Zambia United National Freedom Fighters Association Vice Chairperson CHAPA MUNCHIMBA urged government to complete the task in a quick manner as it has been long overdue.
