Government has signed a grant agreement with the Millennium Challenge Corporation to start the rehabilitation of the Chipata-Lundazi-Chama-Matembo road in Eastern Province.
Acting Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development Minister CORNELIUS MWEETWA says the grant will enable the upgrade of the road from Chipata via Lundazi to Chief Magodi’s area covering about 222 kilometers.
Mr. MWEETWA adds that the procurement process for the contractor and services is underway in readiness to start the rehabilitation works.
He has told parliament that the project will be implemented under the Road and Access Project by the Millennium Project Completion Agency Zambia with a loan portion of approximately 315 million Dollars.
Mr. MWEETWA was responding to Lundazi Member of Parliament BRENDA NYIRENDA during the Question for oral answer session in parliament this afternoon.
