2 companies suspended from public procurement

Two companies have been suspended from participating in public procurement.

Zambia Public Procurement Authority -ZPPA – Acting Director General JUSTIN MATIMUNA says Orbit Drilling and Exploration Limited and One Touch General Dealers were suspended following investigations involving 17 other companies in the third quarter of 2024.

Mr. MATIMUNA said this during a press briefing in Lusaka.

Mr. MATIMUNA says Orbit Drilling and Exploration Limited was suspended from participating in public procurement for a period of one year for submitting a workers compensation fund control board compliance certificate that was not genuine.

He said One Touch General Dealers were suspended for two years for failure to fulfil a contract for designing, branding and delivery of two hundred diaries and 150 notebooks to the Water Resources and Management Authority -WARMA.

Meanwhile, ZPPA has directed all controlling officers and Head of procurement units to fully implement the E-GP system in line with Section 16 of the Public Procurement Act.Mr. MATIMUNA said that the Authority is closely monitoring the usage of the EGP system by procuring entities and that sanctions will be administered to those who will be found wanting.

He said that in the third quarter of 2024, a total of 14,732 tenders from 431 procuring entities were published on the EGP system.
