LPG consumption on the rise- ERB
The Energy Regulation Board -ERB- has recorded an increase in consumption of Liquid Petroleum Gas -LPG.
ERB Director General ELIJAH SICHONE says the 2023-2024 drought which affected electricity supply has contributed to the increase in consumption of LPG.
In a speech read on his behalf by ERB Director Technical Regulations ALLEN POLITO, Mr. SICHONE added that the industry has seen as increase in the number of licensed LPG distributors from three in 2014 to 15 as at the end of October 2024.
The ERB Director General said this at a joint press briefing with the Zambia Metrology Agency-ZMA in Lusaka today.
And Zambia Compulsory Standards Agency Executive Director GERALD CHIZINGA said there is need for intensified public awareness campaigns to dispel myths surrounding the surrounding the use of Liquid Petroleum Gas
Meanwhile Zambia Metrology Agency-ZMA- Executive Director HUMPHREY NKOBENI said the agency will work with players in the sector to bring sanity through better regulations.
