Chikwanda welcomes regulation of energy industry

Energy Expert JOHNSTONE CHIKWANDA has commended government’s efforts to regulate the energy industry .
His comments come in the Wake of Cabinet’s approval on the issuance of a Statutory Instrument called the Energy Regulation 2024 to govern the pricing of petroleum products in Zambia.
The SI is meant to promote transparency and predictability for business planning.
In an interview with ZNBC News, Dr CHIKWANDA said the SI is a step in the right direction, stressing that some areas may require further refinement.
Dr CHIKWANDA stated that the prohibition on selling diesel to fellow Oil Marketing Companies- OMCs in dollars, instead of the local currency, promotes fairness and prevents harm to other players.
