“Use Kariba Dam water responsibly”
The Council of Ministers of the Zambezi River Authority has called for responsible usage of the Kariba dam water by ZESCO and the Zimbabwe Power Company -ZPC- for the 2025 operational cycle to avoid a total shut down.
Zimbabwe Energy and Power Development Minister EDGAR MOYO says the Southern Africa Development Community forecasts for the 2024/2025 rainfall season suggest mixed outcomes with parts of the Kariba catchment area expected to receive below-normal rainfall.
Mr. MOYO said this in Livingstone today at the Zambezi River Authority -ZRA- 42nd Ordinary Council of Ministers meeting chaired by him and Zambia’s Energy Minister MAKOZO CHIKOTE.
And Mr. CHIKOTE said Zambia and Zimbabwe need to re-strategize energy innovations in the face of climate change challenges to give hope to the people of the two nations.
He said the citizens of the two counties are looking forward to solutions to the current pressing energy deficits on both sides of the Zambezi River.
