Govt urges procurement officers to impact lives
Government has urged procurement officers to play a transformative role of ensuring that procurement of public goods and services results in improving the livelihoods of Citizens.
Local Government and Rural Development Permanent Secretary Maambo Haamaundu says public procurement is key to Zambia’s development agenda.
Mr Haamaundu says procurement of public goods and services should also be a strategic driver of positive change on Citizens because any inconsistency has the potential to leave communities underserved.
Mr Haamaundu was speaking when he officially opened the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply (ZIPS)-2025 National Budget workshop at Savee Beach Resort in Siavonga District.
And , ZIPS President Daniel Kabamba said the institution is committed to ensuring that its members adhere to professionalism in the procurement of goods and services.
Mr Kabamba said this is because procurement officers play a critical role in helping the Government to deliver more meaningful developmental programmes.
