Chanda commends Muchima’s stance on Corruption in ZAMMSA
By Sharon Siame
Kanchibiya Member of Parliament, Sunday Chanda, has commended Health Minister Elijah Muchima for taking a bold stance against corruption within the Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA).
Mr. Chanda says revelations surrounding the procurement of ambulances, where companies without financial and technical capacity were awarded contracts, highlight a systemic issue that has undermined Zambia’s health sector.
Mr. Chanda says the malpractice has not only compromised service delivery but has also had direct, adverse effects on communities.
In a statement to ZNBC News in Lusaka today, Mr. Chanda urged the Health Minister to also accelerate the construction of health infrastructure across the country.
He said the delay in implementing critical projects is affecting access to healthcare in rural areas.
