Isolated Throat Cancer Cases Found in under 50-year-old patients

The University Teaching Hospital -UTH- has recorded isolated cases of throat cancer among people under 50 years old.
Ear, Nose and Throat –ENT- Hospital Registrar, MWANSA CHABALA says there are isolated cases of the ailment, in under 50 year-old patients.
Dr. CHABALA has told ZNBC news in an interview that this calls for increased awareness and early detection.
He says early health seeking habit is therefore encouraged at the earliest symptom.
Dr. CHABALA has urged the general public to pay close attention to symptoms, such as progressive throat discomfort, difficulty in swallowing or breathing, hoarseness, unexplained lumps in the neck and weight loss.
He said risk factors; include tobacco use, alcohol consumption, and infections like Human Papilloma Virus -HPV- in the throat.
