
Zambia Celebrated for Advancing Women’s Football

The Confederation of African Football -CAF- has praised Zambia for its contribution to the development of women’s football in the region and at continental levels.
CAF-third Vice President HASSAN SULEIMAN WABERI says the Copper Queens are great Ambassadors of the continent and expressed optimism in the team’s ability to one day win the World Cup.
WABERI was speaking during a gala dinner held in Lusaka by the Football Association of Zambia -FAZ- that saw various Federation Presidents from the continent in attendance among them four-time African Footballer of the year SAMUEL ETO’O.
Thirteen Individuals were honoured for their contribution to the development of Women’s Football in Zambia and across the region.
Those recognised for their contributions and achievements are Former Copper Queens Coaches ALBERT KACHINGA and BRUCE MWAPE.
Players BARBRA BANDA, RACHAEL NACHULA, RACHAEL KUNDANANJI and KABANGE MUPOPO were among those awarded for their outstanding performances.
The Association also took time to award Malawi’s CHAWINGA sisters TABITHA and TEMWA and the Women’s Head Coach LOVEMORE FAZILI.
AND FAZ President, ANDREW KAMANGA said the association will continue to invest in the development of Women’s football in a bid to attain more success.
