ZRA to Remodel Tax Processes for Better Compliance and Resource Mobilization
By Wilson Mulinda
The Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) says it is in the process of remodeling tax processes to ease compliance and support the government’s agenda in relation to domestic resource mobilization.
ZRA Board Chairperson Caleb Fundanga says the reforms implemented within the authority so far have proved effective, as evidenced by the record collections of over 148 billion Kwacha in gross taxes in 2024.
Dr. Fundanga was speaking during the first-ever tax summit in Lusaka, which attracted various stakeholders from different economic sectors.
He said ZRA believes that facilitation yields better chances of compliance than enforcement, which is why work practices have been aligned with technological innovations as a means of enhancing compliance.
Meanwhile, ZRA Commissioner General Dingani Banda said adopting the ONE-ZRA approach with teamwork of all taxpayers will result in narrowing the tax information gap and improving service delivery to clients.
Mr. Banda said the submissions of all participants of the summit are key in finding lasting solutions that will strengthen the relations between ZRA and all taxpayers.
