A 49-year-old man has drowned in the Lunkhwakwa stream in Chipata, Eastern Province.
Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer, Robertson Mweemba, has confirmed and identified the deceased as Ford Banda, of Kapata compound.
Mr. Mweemba says Mr. Banda, who is believed to have been a mental health patient, left home yesterday around 11 hours, without saying where he was going.
He has said that Mr. Banda was later seen at Lunkhwakwa bridge, where he undressed and jumped into the stream.
Mr. Mweemba says the deceased was carried by the heavy current of water in the stream and he later drowned.
