Capital Markets Key to Development – MUSOKOTWANE
By Sharon Siame
Finance and National Planning Minister, SITUMBEKO MUSOKOTWANE says capital markets offer an essential source of financing to support the country’s development aspirations.
Dr. #MUSOKOTWANE says this why Capital Markets must be well regulated and any disputes that may arise in the marketplace must be disposed of efficiently, competently and fairly.
He says this is necessary to instill investor confidence and encourage more investments in the capital markets.
Dr. MUSOKOTWANE said this when he officiated at the launch of the strategic plan for the Capital Markets Tribunal for 2024 to 2028.
He said the Capital markets tribunal is therefore a key institution of governance that plays a critical role in resolving potential disputes in the capital market.
Dr. MUSOKOTWANE said the strategic plan will also contribute to the realization of the vision set out in the capital markets master plan of repositioning Zambia to become an attractive destination for both local and international long term investment capital.
And Capital Markets Tribunal Chairperson CHANDA NKHOLOMA said the Capital Market is expected to support the growth of the market and ultimately contribute to economic development in the country.
Ms. NKHOLOMA said one key way the tribunal can provide support is to ensure that cases brought before the Tribunal are dealt with efficiently to enable businesses operate without delays caused by court action.
