By Alice Lubasi
The Media Institute for Southern Africa -MISA Zambia has opposed the introduction of the Zambia Institute of Journalism bill.
MISA Zambia Chairperson LAUREN CHISANGA says Zambia has enough laws to regulate and support the media in the country.
Ms CHISANGA says MISA stands with media self-regulation and freedom of expression for everyone.
She says there is a need to safeguard the future of Journalism in the country.
And Self Regulation Council of Zambia Committee Member JESSIE BWALYA says the bill is aimed at creating an environment where journalists cannot freely express themselves.
Ms BWALYA says the bill should not be supported , and not signed into law.
Meanwhile, Journalist CHARITY MTONGA says journalists are in support of the self-media regulatory mechanism which they have subscribed to.
She says the Zambia Institute of Journalism bill does not have the best interests of journalists incorporated in it.
