“Mining local content bill to benefit Zambians”

Vice President MUTALE NALUMANGO says the actualization of the Mining local content bill will translate into tangible economic benefits for all Zambians.
Mrs. NALUMANGO says the bill once implemented will ensure that wealth generated from the country’s natural resources result in job creation and sustainable economic growth.
The Vice President was speaking in Kitwe at the Mining Local Content Conference and Expo organized by the Zambia Association of Manufacturers- ZAM.
And, Mines Minister PAUL KABUSWE said the document to actualize the Mining Local Content is 90 percent complete and that soon legislation will be in place.
Mr. KABUSWE said once implemented, mining local content will promote full participation of the local people.
Meanwhile, the Zambia Association of Manufacturers said the Mining Local Content will create a framework that supports compliance and help find a common ground for working towards mutual growth for the benefits of Zambia.
ZAM President ASHU SAGAR said the Association will not wait for the bill to be enforced but will take proactive steps to promote local participation.
Earlier, Copperbelt Minister ELISHA MATAMBO said with the Copperbelt revitalizing, the mining local content bill has come at the right time.
