
ABSA Cup 2025 kicks off with thrilling matches

The highly anticipated 2025 ABSA Cup got underway today with an exciting opening match between Nangweshi Pirates and Air Power FC.
Air Power FC emerged victorious with a 2-1 win, securing their place in the round of 16, where they will take on Power Dynamos.
In the second fixture, Makeni All Stars and Muchinga Police Blue Eagles battled to a draw, forcing a nerve-wracking penalty shootout.
After 16 tense penalties, Makeni All Stars edged out their opponents 5-4, setting up a clash with Kabwe Warriors in the next round.
The third match saw Roan United FC claim a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Young Nkwazi, earning them a place in the round of 16, where they will face Nkana FC.
Speaking after the match, Young Nkwazi head coach KEEGAN MWAPE expressed disappointment at the loss but remained optimistic about his team’s future performances.
He has emphasized the need to work harder in upcoming fixtures.
Meanwhile, Roan United head coach SATCHMO CHAKAWA was delighted with his team’s performance but cautioned against complacency.
He urged his players to stay focused as they prepare for their next challenge against Nkana FC, with their eyes set on reaching the quarter-finals.
