AG already submitted 2023 Report to the President & Speaker
By Effie Mphande
The Office of Auditor General says claims suggesting that it has failed to meet its constitutional obligation of submitting the Report for the financial year ending December 31, 2023, by the deadline of September 30, 2024 are misleading.
Acting Auditor General RON MWAMBWA says the claims are an attempt to undermine public trust in the work of the Auditor General’s Office.
Dr. MWAMBWA says the report was submitted to the President and the Speaker on September 25, 2024 before the deadline in line with provisions of Article 212 of the Constitution.
This is contained in a statement made available to ZNBC News by Office of Auditor General Head of Public Relations ELLEN CHIKALE.
Dr. MWAMBWA said the subsequent tabling process by the National Assembly of Zambia which is underway has nothing to do with the President or the Office as claimed by some sections of the media.
He said his office appreciates the media’s role in informing the public but encouraged accurate reporting based on verified information which is available at his office.
Dr. MWAMBWA has reassured the public of his Office’s continued commitment to transparency and accountability in its operations.
