Anglo-American keen to invest in Zambia’s mining sector
President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says Anglo American Corporation has renewed its interest to invest in the mining sector after close to 20 years of their exit.
President HICHILEMA says the 3 million tonnes annual copper production target, will require partnerships with reputable mining companies like Anglo American Corporation.
The President said this after hosting a delegation from Anglo American Corporation, led by the company’s Chief Executive Officer, DUNCAN WANBLAD, who are in the country.
The President says government remains committed to facilitating an investment environment in the mining sector that will benefit the people and help to grow the economy.
President HICHILEMA says to achieve the kind of win – win investment environment, continuous dialogue on the policy and legal frameworks for the sector, remains key.
He says Government is working closely with the Chamber of Mines to ensure that ZAMBIA has the right mining investment environment, supported by the right policy and legal frameworks for the benefit of the people.
