CEEC disburses K400m in loans and grants
The government, through the Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC), disbursed over 400 million Kwacha in grants and loans to small and medium entrepreneurs across the country in 2024.
Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprises Permanent Secretary Subeta Mutelo says that before 2021, the commission could only receive 20-50 million Kwacha to service the entire country.
Ms. Mutelo notes that the government has continued to increase funding to the commission to help promote the development of SMEs and cooperatives in the country.
She explains that the government has focused on supporting entrepreneurs in the country as they play an important role in improving the country’s economy.
Ministry’s Director of Business Development and Grants Kenedy Mumba said most SMEs and cooperatives have been linked to markets to sustain their business ventures.
