China to build solar power plant in Kasempa
By Lupindula Mwewa
The Chinese government will this year construct a solar power plant in Kasempa District of North Western Province to supply electricity to Chinese-owned mines.
The solar power plant is meant to mitigate the impact of load management on the mines in the district.
Chinese Deputy Ambassador to Zambia Wang Sheng says his country is interested in exploring investment opportunities in the mining, energy, and agriculture sectors of North Western Province.
Mr. Sheng says the Chinese government also plans to set up a milling plant in Solwezi District and a solar plant in Kasempa District.
He said this when he called on North Western Province Minister Robert Lihefu.
Meanwhile, Mr. Lihefu said the government is ready to provide support to investors that are ready to invest in the province.
He said the government wants to ensure that development reaches all corners of the country.
