Chinyemba rekindles ZAMBIA’s hope of a medal

PATRICK CHINYEMBA has rekindled ZAMBIA’s hope of a medal in boxing at the ongoing 2024 Paris Olympic games via a convincing 4-1 points win over AMIT AMIT of INDIA.
The victory has seen CHINYEMBA book his spot in the quarterfinals of the Men’s 51 kg weight division and is only one win away from geting into the medal bracket .
CHINYEMBA who is taking part in his second Olympics avenged his controversial loss at the hands of the INDIAN at the 2022 Commonwealth Semifinal.
And after an explosive start to the bout which saw both boxers exchange blows, the three time African flyweight Champion asserted his dominance in the second and third rounds to see out his challenger in a split points decision.
And speaking to ZNBC Sport News in an interview CHINYEMBA said he is happy to have picked up Zambia’s first win at the 2024 Olympics,with his eye now focused on minting a gold medal.
CHINYEMBA’s opponent for a place in the Semi finals is DAVID DE PINA of Cape Verde on the 2nd of August , 2024 at 21:04 hours at the North Paris Arena.
