Earth collapse Kills 8 illegal miners in Chingola

Eight illegal miners in Chingola have died after the earth collapsed on them.
Six of the dead are members of the same family.
Two of the miners survived.
Copperbelt Police Commissioner PEACEWELL MWEEMBA says the eight in the company of other illegal miners left home around 18:00 hours yesterday to work at Cop 5 Dump Site at KCM Chingola to extract some copper ores.
Mr. MWEEMBA says while working, the earth collapsed on them burying them alive in the early hours of today.
He says the other Illegal miners that escaped tried to rescue their friends but that they had died by the time they were retrieved.
Mr. MWEEMBA says one body has not yet been retrieved.
