“FAZ Election Ultimatum is Not Government Interference”
By Chansa Kunda
Football Administrator Mwansa Mbulakulima says the ultimatum given to the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) to hold elections by the 28th of this month should not be interpreted as government interference.
Mbulakulima says the pronouncement made yesterday is in line with the Association’s constitution, which states that the next elections should be held within the same month as the last one.
Speaking to ZNBC Sports News, the FAZ Life Member says the guidance given by the Attorney General, relayed by the National Sports Council, is in order.
Mbulakulima said all sports associations are regulated by the National Sports Council; therefore, their guidance should not be interpreted as interference.
And National Sports Council of Zambia (NSCZ) Director Sombwa Musunsa said the letter has been sent and delivered to the Football Association of Zambia this morning.
He confirmed the development in a telephone interview.
And Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) General Secretary Rueben Kamanga said he is in receipt of the letter but says a response can only be given once the Association interprets the content.
