The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has announced that plans are underway to transform Heroes’ Acre into a museum.
FAZ President Andrew Kamanga stated that the association is in constant communication with the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Youth, Sport, and Arts to actualize the project.
Kamanga emphasized that this initiative will help strengthen the memory of the fallen heroes while attracting more tourists eager to learn about Zambia’s football history.
He reaffirmed that the dream of having the Chipolopolo Boys qualify for the World Cup remains a top priority, as it would honor the legacy of the fallen heroes.
Kamanga made these remarks during a wreath-laying ceremony marking 32 years since the Gabon Air crash.
Meanwhile, Family Representative Tamara Mtonga expressed gratitude to FAZ for its continued support in ensuring the day is commemorated annually.
Additionally, Zambia Sports Fans Association (ZASPOFA) Patron Peter Makembo stated that it is the responsibility of every football fan to continue honoring the fallen heroes, who lost their lives in service to the nation.
