FAZ unveils VAR training for local referees

Football Association of Zambia -FAZ- President ANDREW KAMANGA has officially launched the FIFA VAR Training Workshop.

The workshop, which is being conducted by a team of FIFA and CAF instructors, aims to equip 40 local referees with the skills and knowledge required to effectively utilise VAR technology.

In his keynote address, KAMANGA stressed the importance of embracing technology in football, citing the success of VAR in major international tournaments.

He noted that Zambia cannot afford to be left behind in the implementation of VAR technology.

And COSAFA Referees Director FELIX TANGAWARIMA said this is the first project of COSAFA that has brought referees together and he is proud that it has happened in Zambia.

Meanwhile, Retired FIFA referee JANNY SIKAZWE, who is also a FIFA instructor, is serving as the lead project consultant for Zambia.

The successful implementation of VAR technology is expected to enhance the accuracy and fairness of refereeing decisions in the local league.
