“Govt has not sold shares in Mopani Copper Mines”
By Alice Lubasi
Mines Minister PAUL KABUSWE says government has NOT sold its shares in Mopani Copper Mines to International Resources Holding.
And Mr KABUSWE says the Mopani Copper Mine transaction did not require Government to seek approval from parliament because it is NOT a parastatal.
He says the decision not to take the matter to parliament was because Attorney General guided that the transaction did not require to be taken to parliament.
In a ministerial statement to the parliament today, Mr. KABUSWE added that the matter was NOT taken to parliament because there was no sale, transfer or disposal of a major state asset.
