Govt issues 30 day ultimatum for unauthorized use of Proudly Zambian logo
By Masauso Mkwayaya
The Ministry of Commerce Trade and Industry has issued a 30 days’ ultimatum for the removal of the Proudly Zambian logo on all products on the market that have not undergone vetting from the Secretariat.
Ministry Public Relations Officer MUSANDA KANGWA says the logo is a registered trademark, and can only be used on a product or service, upon being granted authorisation.
Ms. MUSANDA says the logo is not merely an emblem but a mark of quality that assures consumers of the quality of the product as well as the adherence to other set regulations.
She told ZNBC News that the illegal use of the logo does not just mislead consumers, but is a criminal offence prosecutable under the laws of Zambia.
Ms. MUSANDA has called consumers to report any company that is using the logo illegally, by checking the updated list of companies on the Proudly Zambia Campaign website.
