Govt to facilitate the monetisation of social media
By Sharon Kunda
Information and media Minister CORNELIUS MWEETWA says the Government is in the process of facilitating the monetisation of social media in Zambia.
Mr. MWEETWA says it is for this reason that the Government has started the process of repealing and replacing the Independent Broadcasting Authority -IBA- Act.
He says that the Government is not seeking to stifle freedoms of its citizens to engage on social media by repealing and replacing the IBA Act.
Mr. MWEETWA said this when he supported the motion by Nkana Member of Parliament BINWELL MPUNDU that Government should facilitate the monetisation of social media in Zambia in order to ensure that content creators and influencers earn money through their so
ial media accounts.
And Youth, Sports and Arts Minister ELVIS NANDU said the monetisation of social media in Zambia will enable content creators and influencers to share knowledge.
Meanwhile, Technology and Science Minister FELIX MUTATI said the monetisation of social media will unlock innovation and entrepreneurship.
