Construction works on the turf at the National Heroes Stadium are progressing steadily, with 50% completion already achieved.
According to National Heroes Stadium Director Raphael Mulenga, the playing surface is expected to be ready for use by March 2025.
Mulenga says that the old playing surface has been removed, and work on the drainages and water lining systems is underway.
He said new machinery is set to arrive in January, which will facilitate the installation of a new hybrid turf.
Mulenga said by February 2025, the first cutting of grass is expected to be done, marking a significant milestone in the project’s completion.
The project is being closely monitored by a committee under the Ministry of Youth, Sport, and Arts to ensure its timely completion.
