HH launches Zambezi Economic Zone

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has launched the establishment of the Zambezi Economic Free Zone, consisting of Sekute and Mukuni Free Economic Zones.
President HICHILEMA says the 17,000 hectares of land, once fully developed, will create thousands of jobs.
President HICHILEMA says the area is a phenomenal and strategic location sitting near the Kazungula Bridge which links Zambia to three other countries.
He says the location is also strategic as it is near the Victoria Falls and gorges to promote tourism.
President HICHILEMA says government through the Public Private Projects wants to create value that will benefit the people of Zambia through job creation across the country.
He has directed developers to ensure that locals benefit from the jobs that will be created.
And the President says government will use artificial intelligence to spur development in all sectors such as the mining, tourism and agriculture sectors among others.
President HICHILEMA has thanked the developers and investors that have shown interest in the project, and has urged them to bring in more investors.
He has also thanked Chiefs Sekute and Mukuni for providing land for the project.
Meanwhile, Senior Chief Sekute said the free economic zone that has already attracted interest from twelve companies, will spur more investment into Zambia.
The Senior Chief said economic zones will contribute significantly to the gross domestic product – GDP of the nation.
And Chairman of the BHL Group , BUKS VAN RENSBURG, said Zambia’s friendly people and its peaceful nature is one of its biggest investment assets.
And Hillington International Group Representative, REZA JAMILI, thanked the Government for creating an enabling environment for investors to come into the country, and that the group is interested in investing in the country.
And Tourism Minister RODNEY SIKUMBA said the relaxation of VISA requirements will enable many investors to come into the country.
He says the KAZA UNIVISA will also allow Zambia to grow tourism visitations to three million, and attract revenue of about Forty Billion Kwacha in 2026.
And Southern Province Minister, CREDO NANJUWA, said everytime President HICHILEMA visits the province he brings value that adds to the growth of the province.
And Defence Minister, AMBROSE LUFUMA, thanked President HICHILEMA for taking development to all parts of the country
